Nidderdale AONB projects

The Nidderdale AONB team works with local people, landowners and partner organisations on a range of projects to understand, look after, and conserve this very special corner of Yorkshire for future generations.

Current projects include the large scale Heritage Lottery Funded Upper Nidderdale Landscape Partnership and our project commemorating the centenary of the First World War and its impact on the communities of Nidderdale - 'Leeds Pals, Prisoners Of War and the Home Front'.

Our ambitious programme of wildlife and habitat focussed projects aims to deliver conservation benefits across Nidderdale AONB, and begin to reverse the decline of species and habitats of concern in the AONB. Find out here about work on Hay Meadow Restoration and Roadside Verges, our involvement in the Northern Upland Chain Local Nature Partnership and the development of an exciting new project involving people in wildlife recording and surveying called The Wild Watch.
