Meet the Nidderdale AONB team

The small AONB staff team are based in Pateley Bridge. The team is made up of 12 people (equal to nine full-time staff) - seven who work across the whole AONB and five who work on the Heritage Lottery funded 'Upper Nidderdale Landscape Partnership'.

Paul Burgess: AONB Manager (full time)

  • has overall responsibility for the team in Pateley Bridge
  • has responsibility for implementing the AONB management plan and annual work programme

Sarah Kettlewell: Development Team Leader (Monday to Wednesday)

  • develops new AONB projects
  • develops and submits funding applications for AONB projects
  • provides a link with Friends of Nidderdale AONB

Kelly Harmar: Project Officer - Biodiversity (Monday, Wednesday and Friday)

  • manages a variety of biodiversity conservation projects such as the hay meadow restoration project and roadside verges project
  • oversees the AONB's work on geology

Leanne Fox: AONB Information Officer (Monday to Thursday)

  • publicises the work of the AONB via press and social media
  • produces newsletters and publications for the AONB and the Friends of Nidderdale AONB
  • creates and manages the AONB annual events programme
  • manages and updates the AONB website
  • promotes and develops sustainable tourism in the AONB, in conjunction with the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority

Marian Wilby: Land Management Team Leader (full time)

  • provides practical assistance and support for farmers and landowners with conservation projects, accessing grants and environmental stewardship schemes
  • is the main contact for the Nidderdale Catchment Sensitive Farming project

James Searle: AONB Volunteer Co-ordinator (Monday to Wednesday)

  • has overall responsibility for AONB volunteer groups
  • develops new volunteering opportunities
  • runs the Nidderdale AONB Conservation Volunteer group and oversees the work of the AONB dry stone walling group

Mary Jones: AONB Administrator (Monday, Thursday and Friday)

  • deals with all general enquiries about the AONB
  • deals with AONB accounts in conjunction with Harrogate Borough Council
  • manages bookings for the AONB events programme
